News > ABC's 'Traveler' Is Kinda Enjoyable

May 10, 2007

According to this Newsday preview, NBC's new action/travel/conspiracy theory show is enjoyable, but potentially doomed.

Says Diane Werts:

"[Traveler is] a pretty nifty, if completely insane, suspense/conspiracy/ chase/road adventure...it's a thrill-o-rama you know they can't afford or execute week after week."

The show is evidently 24 mixed with Alias mixed with The OC, with one subtle difference: unlike Traveler, those shows ran more than a few episodes before getting canceled. Not to be overly-pessimistic, but Traveler has the cards stacked against it: it runs during the summer, when nobody watches prime-time TV. It's really expensive to make. It stars actors who are only slightly recognizable. And -- most confusingly -- after its slam-bag series premiere, ABC will put the show on hiatus for three weeks, as if to give the audience a chance to completely lose all interest in the show.

Way to support your new series, ABC!
