LOS ANGELES -- John Stamos and ABC parted ways earlier this year on less than happy terms, with the network scuttling the second season of his show "Jake in Progress" after just one episode.
The actor apparently isn't holding too big a grudge, however, as he's signed on to ABC's adaptation of the classic play "A Raisin in the Sun."
Stamos will play a representative of an all-white neighborhood in 1950s Chicago that wants a black family to move out of the community, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is scheduled to start shooting in the next few weeks; a premiere date hasn't been set.
The cast also includes Sean Combs, Phylicia Rashad, Sanaa Lathan and Audra McDonald, all of whom starred in a 2004 revival of Lorraine Hansberry's play on Broadway. Rashad and McDonald each won Tony Awards for their performance, and Lathan was also nominated.
Combs is also a producer of the film version, along with Neil Meron and Craig Zadan ("Chicago," "Life with Judy Garland").
Stamos, now a regular on NBC's "ER," has worked with Zadan and Meron before. He stars in "Wedding Wars," an A&E movie airing Dec. 11 produced by the duo, and also had roles in their productions "The Reagans" and "The Beach Boys: An American Family."
