The Emmys have gone hip, or at least would like you to think that they have. The daytime TV awards have introduced several new categories. Among the silliest new competitors include a Diet Coke and Mentos Commercial. Doesn't sound like good TV to me. Of note is the fact that the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is currently in a heated debate with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Jesus guys. Get a new name, please.) over the validity of the inclusion of any sort of web content during the awards show. My feeling is that while this is a bit of a ridiculous move, there's not a chance that they could undermine the presentation of yet another Days of Our Lives award, though you should feel completely free to judge for yourself. Among the new awards and nominees include:

• Drama: "Prom Queen," Vuguru; "Sam Has 7 Friends," Vuguru; "Satacracy 88," Itsallinyourhands.com; "Stranger Adventures," Riddle Productions Inc.; "Tim's Dates," Mandate Bros. productions.

• Comedy: "Baxter & McGuire," Comedy Central; "Honesty," Comedy Central; "Mobijokes," DV3 Productions; "Pale Force," NBC; "Slob Evolution," Blink Productions; "The Office: Accountants," NBC.

• Variety: "Dexter Blood Spatter 101," Showtime; "Guiding Light's 70th Anniversary Celebration," Procter & Gamble Productions; "Icons of Science_Quantum Theory," Discovery Education; "It's Jerrytime!" Ozone Inc.; "The Extreme Diet Coke and Mentos Experiments," EepyBird.

• Children's: "Cyberchase," PBS; Scooby-Doo: Haunts for the Holidays," Warnerbrothers.com; "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy," Cartoon Network.
