Steven Spielberg's longtime passion project The Talisman has found itself another hurdle it couldn't clear. According to , "TNT's six-hour adaptation of the Stephen King-Peter Straub novel, executive produced by Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy, has been put on hold because of budgetary issues." After the script was finalized, it was clear that a larger budget was needed than the one that had been allocated. The project concerns a "boy's quest through this world and a parallel world known as the Territories to find a talisman that will save his mother."

Spielberg and Kennedy optioned the book 25 years ago and have tried bringing it to the big and small screen several times since then.
