The Speed Racer onslaught continues!  is, ahem, reporting that Nicktoons (the 24-hour cartoon baby of Papa Nickelodeon) has picked up 26-episodes of a brand new 'Speed Racer' cartoon.  This time around a young Speed Racer enters in to a racing academy only to learn that he has a famous father, and a brother he never knew about - the mysterious Racer X.  Throw in Chim-Chim as a now robotic monkey, Spritle as the academy headmaster, and a new, improved Mach-6 (it's so advanced, it doesn't run on gas!) and looks like it's reboot time.

No seriously, Ken Katsumoto, a bigwig over at Lionsgate, producer of the film, said today, 'It seemed like the right time to do a revival.'  Not because, he thinks it's time for another generation of children to be pushed in to seizures by the frenetic pacing of a show I never understood, but moreso because the Wachowski's Speed Racer live-action film is revving up as I type.  Thus a new television series equals even more merchandising opportunities and with that, EVEN MORE MONEY!  And who doesn't love money?
