Reality TV > Next Great American Band Has Its Judges

August 28, 2007

Fox's new reality show music competition, The Next Great American Band, has selected its three judges and host. According to , the honorable judges will be John Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls, Sheila E. of Prince-collaboration fame, and Ian Dickson, a judge from Australian Idol. Oh good, they'll have at least one judge with a Brit-like accent. Dominic Bowden of New Zealand Idol will host.

The show will be much in the same format of American Idol. Undiscovered bands will have the opportunity to exhibit their talents or look like fools on national television. The grand prize will be "a contract with 19 recordings." That doesn't seem like enough does it? I suppose the exposure is the real prize, though how does a band build credibility when it's known as "the band from Next Great American Band?"
