The Writers Guild of America has blasted the producers of reality show Kid Nation. President Patric Verrone called the working conditions and the treatment of the children "a tragedy" says . The parents of some forty children who participated complained of long working hours and other conditions. The WGA points out that these sorts of unfavorable situations tend to happen almost exclusively in reality programming. The WGA is angling to get involved with more reality programming by organizing the "storytellers" of said shows.
