News > Hidden Palms Evidently Subpar

TVGuide's Matt Roush reports that Hidden Palms, the new CW drama premiering this week, combines Alfred Hitchcock and The O.C. in a way that almost works.

Roush calls the show "slick but derivative," and "overwritten and underacted." The film deals with mysterious suicides and murders whilst following around angsty, irritating preppy kids who seem to do nothing but whine. Still, though, Roush says that the weekly climactic shocks are "truly unnerving."

Evidently, the show aspires to be Veronica Mars (except, you know, not canceled), but ends up falling flat where it really counts.
