Ever wondered what would happen if your favorite animated comedy show attempted to re-tell the Star Wars story in their own words? Well, the Family Guy has decided to do just that, re-enacting the fabled saga over the course of their hour long season premier episode next September. Luca Films has given the go ahead, making this whole ordeal quite official. The characters will be represented as follows:

Peter Griffin - Hans Solo

Lois Griffin - Princess Leia

Stewie Griffin - Darth Vader (Ha!)

Brian Griffin - Chewbaca

Chris Griffin - Luke Skywalker

R2D2 - Cleveland

C3PO - Quagmire

Old Guy Herbert - Obi Wan

Quite strangely, it all makes sense...perhaps way too much sense? This appears to be one of the two Star Wars projects in the works that Lucas Films alluded to earlier this week. While this is certainly an exciting development, my feeling is that it hardly qualifies as a full scale Star Wars project. Then again, who really cares about the scope. SW is SW, and the Family Guy is damn funny, so this should certainly make for an enjoyable season premier. Do we really have to wait until September? Booo
