Some mild SPOILERS below.
Entourage has always been great for -- if nothing else -- making the unreal seem real, blurring the lines between fact and fiction. And what better way to make Vinnie Chase seem like a real, living Hollywood character? Dump him at the Cannes film festival, of course.
According to , Entourage's fourth season will open on June 17th as Vinnie and the gang get a greenlight for Medellin (Vinnie's dream project), and the season will conclude with the guys taking the film to Cannes, likely to have it compete as an official entry.
This is the first time the Cannes Film Festival has ever closed off locations to the public for the sake of filming, mostly thanks to HBO's generous donation to festival president Giles Jacob's Cinefondation, an establishment helping young filmmakers come into their own. The Entourage crew was allowed to shoot the during Ocean's Thirteen premiere as superstars Brad Pitt and George Clooney walked down the red carpet, soon followed by fictional star Vinnie Chase.
Evidently, the entire scene had to be shot in one take for time reasons, and the script wasn't even ready to film until 48 hours before the entire Entourage crew hopped onto a jet bound for Italy.
The show's third season will end this Sunday, with the fourth season commencing a mere two weeks later. We won't get to see the Cannes footage until sometime in September, but, knowing Entourage, it'll probably involve Jeremy Piven running around and being a lovable asshole to everyone in sight while Kevin Connolly plays himself and Kevin Dillon looks confused.
