News > Big Love Gets a Third Season!

You've got to believe that HBO is scrambling right now to feel the vacuous void left in the empty dark of the final moments of 'The Sopranos'.  Sure, they've got some popular shows, but the foundation has been pulled, and the black hole left in its wake isn't exactly being filled.  'John From Cincinnati', the new show by 'Deadwood' guy David Milch' is sort of plodding along, and rumor on the streets is that 'Entourage' just isn't what it once was (which is saying a lot, because it was never much).  'Deadwood' is gone, baby, gone, so what's a network to do?  Throw some weight behind a show that already exists on air.

No, silly, not 'The Wire' (we could only wish), but 'Big Love', the Bill Paxton starring polygamy drama, has garnered itself another a third season.  I think there were a lot of fears in the 'Big Love' boat, that it was taking on water, but it's my theory that in the wake of 'The Sopranos' all of the HBO/Showtime original shows are going to do a little worse.  People need time to just sit back and contemplate on the fact that one of the, if not the best show in television history has finally come to an end.  They don't want to get all involved in some other show, when Tony's mug is still lingering in their minds.

But, kudos to 'Big Love', I'm going to try and catch up with it when I can.
