News > 24 Pirate Could Be in Deep Trouble

June 1, 2007

In a news update that has BitTorrent users everywhere wringing their hands with nervousness, states that the FBI has filed an official complaint against a man who posted four episodes of The Jack Bauer Power Hour (aka 24) on LiveDigital.com, days before they were ever officially broadcast.

Jorge Romero, 24, didn't even upload the episodes himself: he simply found the episodes somewhere and further distributed them. Nonetheless, the FBI considers his offense harsh enough to possibly warrant three years in prison.

All in all, a bummer: not only is this yet another "we've arrested this one guy to show the rest of you that piracy isn't cool" FBI case, but the dude got nipped not for uploading episodes of a show, but simply for spreading them. And it wasn't even a particularly good show.
