News > "Grey's Anatomy" Star Knight Was Told Not to Come Out

Although T.R. Knight eventually did come out of the closet amidst rumors and speculation following the infamous on-set incident with Isiah Washington, there were people in his life advising him against it.  A foolish proposition given how savvy the youth entering the market are currently; if he hadn't come out, he be the object of ridicule not because he is gay, but because there would be a perception that everyone would know about it but him.  Imagine the P.R. nightmare of Tom Cruise's life without the constant stream of hot women leaving him (no Mimi Rogers), then take away most of the fame and massive moviestardom, and you'd have T.R. Knight's life if he didn't come out of the closet.  If he's out of the closet, nobody cares.  But if was still in the closet, everyone would have a story to sell.
