Reality TV > WCBS scores exclusive "Son of Sam" interview

Why are we so fascinated with serial killers that we keep giving them air time? If the Virginia Tech "media packet" wasn't offensive enough, WCBS is planning to roll out an exclusive interview with David Berkowitz, aka the infamous serial killer Son of Sam. Berkowitz' interview apparently reveals new details on his case. He will conduct the interview from prison, where he is serving a 365-year sentence.

This is not a precedent. TV news shows have conducted interviews with Charles Manson, Mark Chapman and have run numerous specials on dead killers like the Columbine shooters and Cho Seung-Hui, the Virginia Tech shooter. The interviews are always controversial because they only serve to increase the fame of the killers.
