The Dutch haven't had the greatest of years in terms of not-pissing people off. First, they pissed of Muhammad, and some of his more violent followers, by drawing silly cartoons of him. Now, they're pissing off, well everyone by airing a television show that lets a dying woman chose where her kidneys are going to go.
Yeah, you read that right. 'Lisa', as the brain-tumor laden woman is referred, will pick one person worthy of her life-saving kidneys, from a group of three varied contestants. Her choice will be based on her limited knowledge of their family lives and lifestyles of the three also dying people. In what I view as the worst part of this whole thing, viewers are encouraged to call in and give her advice on whom to pick.
The point behind the show, or so they say, is to highlight the rampant kidney-shortage in the Netherlands right now, and pay tribute to the former owner of BNN, the Dutch company behind the show, who died of kidney failure five years ago. Alright Dutch people, reason out your strange, sick show with whatever bullshit reasoning you need, but this morbid mockery of television is aimed at shocking and enraging enough people that they'll be forced to watch. Yeah, the Netherlands have a shortage in kidneys, sure, but you assholes don't have a shortage of green in your pocket, so stop with this abysmal idea for a show.
Yikes.
