Hang-ten with gnarly gay ladies in new reality series.

Viacom's gay-themed Logo cable channel has ordered a reality series about a group of lesbian surfers.

Curl Girls, which is in production, follows six women who create a surfing competition in southern California. It will premiere in the summer.

"Their friendships are strong, no doubt, but they thrive on competition, and that makes for some interesting television," said Brian Graden, president of entertainment at MTV Networks Music Group and president of Logo.

The six-part series also will spawn digital components that will exist on LogoOnline.com and AfterEllen.com. The concept of the series emerged from a 2005 documentary on the surfing competition that appeared on Logo.
