Grammy-winning hipster songstress Jewel will host the next TV season of the U.S. country-music talent search "Nashville Star."

USA Network announced Wednesday that Jewel would join up with Cowboy Troy for the fifth season of the series, replacing last season's co-host, Wynonna Judd.

Network Vice President Jeff Wachtel said in a news release that Jewel's singing and songwriting talent would be "invaluable to the aspiring singers and insightful to the viewers."

Jewel herself said she had been raised with country music while growing up on a ranch in Alaska.

"Nashville Star" held auditions in a dozen U.S. cities this summer to put together a field of unknown talents for the televised competition.
