George Lucas will commission and oversee six specials for the History Channel. The specials will cover global warming, fundamentalist islam, Abraham Lincoln's assassination, archaeology, Nostrodamus' prophecy and early Chinese history.

The History Channel's website will also air 94 short documentaries Lucas produced when he headed the ABC TV series "The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones." The short docs are between 30 and 60 minutes long and cover a hugely diverse selection of topics, from ballet to slavery to Al Capone.

The History Channel has been in talks with Lucas for years and the new network general manager Nancy Dubuc finally sealed the deal.
