Reality TV > Gene Simmons Reality Show Gets Another Season

reports that A&E will once again be renewing Gene Simmons: Family Jewels, the reality show that follows the life of Gene Simmons and his family.

This will be the show's third season, and it's no surprise that it was renewed: behind Dog the Bounty Hunter, Jewels is A&E's second-highest rated series ever amongst adults. In addition to a simple renewal, A&E is upping the episode count to 24 episodes, versus last season's 20.

Don't call it an Osbournes ripoff, though: Rob Sharenow, senior VP of reality programming at A&E, says that the Simmons family is "highly functional, intelligent and witty...They're in constant motion, and Gene is always working on dozens of projects. It's more like a scripted series than a reality show."

But aren't all reality shows at least somewhat scripted? Ah, well -- so long as the script in this case is unusually witty, it's hard to complain.
